Over 100 million people, including at minimum 15 million minors, now utilize e-cigarettes, driving a new surge of nicotine habit, as stated by latest international medical findings.

"As a reaction to this substantial advancement, the tobacco industry is fighting back with recent nicotine devices, forcefully targeting youth. Governments must respond more rapidly and stronger in enacting proven tobacco-control policies," he continued.
The e-cigarette statistics are a projection since some countries - 109 in all, and numerous in Africa and South-East Asia - lack statistics.
Based on the report, as of recent February this year, at bare minimum 86 million e-cigarette individuals were mature individuals, primarily in high-income countries.
And at bare minimum 15 million adolescents aged 13 and 15 currently use e-cigarettes, per studies from 123 countries.
Even though many states have attempted to establish e-cigarette policies to address child vaping in the past few years, by the close of 2024, 62 countries yet had no policy in effect, and 74 nations had no age limit at which e-cigarettes are allowed to be purchased, reports the public health organization.
Simultaneously, tobacco consumption has been decreasing - from an estimated 1.38 billion consumers in 2000 to 1.2 billion in 2024.
Frequency of tobacco use among women dropped the greatest - from 11% in 2010 to 6.6% in 2024.
Among men, the reduction was from 41.4% in 2010 to 32.5% in 2024.
But a fifth of adults internationally still employs tobacco.
