The relatives of young people missing after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Switzerland's winter destination are confronting an painful wait for confirmed information and pleading for clues about their children online.

The inferno engulfed the a popular bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Alps of south-west Switzerland, in the early hours of New Year's Day. Verified video depict the ceiling being engulfed in flames as bottles with sparklers are held aloft.

Officials have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the victims of the fire, which claimed the lives of numerous partygoers and hurt another scores more. Officials noted on Friday that 113 of the those hurt have been identified, with the process continuing to name the other six.

In the interim, relatives have been posting on social media to request clues about their loved ones who were present at the venue that fateful night.

Appeals for the Missing

The whereabouts of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, sixteen, are currently unknown, according to an appeal from his parent.

The resident of Lutry near the city, explained to a local newspaper that she had gone back to Lausanne to check whether he was in the medical facility, while his other parent did the equivalent search in the capital, but did not locate him.

"It feels like a terrible dream, a nightmare. The options are finding my son in the morgue, or I find him in intensive care. It's terrible," she told the paper.

She explained that some of his companions had been located with injuries covering a significant portion of their bodies. "It's indescribable; they went through a terrifying ordeal."

The Italy's government has indicated that six of its young people are still unaccounted for.
