All three officers killed were members of the Carabinieri military police.

âThis is a time for grieving,â commented the Interior Minister the Interior Minister, who added that efforts had been made to remove the brother and sister trio in the earlier times.
Property Situation
The leader of the Veneto region, Luca Zaia, stated the farmhouse was facing an removal notice due to financial obligations accumulated by the siblings.
Mediators had been sent to talk with the brothers and sister who had barricaded themselves into the home. When the officers came just after 03:00 (01:00 GMT), authorities suspect one of the siblings triggered the detonation.
âUpon entering the house, we were confronted with an act of absolute madness,â regional commander Claudio Papagno stated to news outlets.
âA gas cylinder had been activated, and the explosion precisely impacted our personnel,â he added.
Incendiary devices were also found at the site, the interior minister said.
Casualties and Damage
Those injured by the blast comprised eleven more officers of the Carabinieri as well as three members of Italy's state police and a fire services member.
Based on information from the Verona prosecutor, the farmhouse was in a dilapidated shape and had no electricity.
He believed the explosion had taken place on a story above the entrance and informed the press it was a âpremeditated and voluntary homicideâ. Moments before the incident, he mentioned personnel had âdetected a whistling noise, likely the propane tanks being activatedâ.
Community Reaction
âWe all knew the situation was dire,â local residents told Italian media, noting that the three had in the past stated to âcause an explosionâ rather than vacate the property.
âThe blast resulted in a âhorrific, deeply distressing and tragic costâ.â
