Slot Asserts He Feels Safe and Has Liverpool's Support After PSV Eindhoven Loss

Arne Slot admitted that it was understandable for doubts to be asked about his future following another heavy defeat against PSV Eindhoven.

Liverpool suffered their 9th loss in 12 games, marking the team's worst streak since being relegated in 1953-54.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a punishing evening at their home ground.

“I am feeling safe, things are alright, I've received plenty of backing from above,” Slot commented.

“It's important to reverse this trend and earn three points obviously but when you're working as a coach and underperforming then it is normal that doubts arise.”

He noted, “I accept my position. This isn't the initial instance I've found myself in a challenging situation but it is about time that we improved our results.”

Talks with The Board

When asked to provide details on his discussions with the team officials, Slot said:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and those talks happen but they don’t call me all the time each day to say they back me.”

He further stated, “Through standard exchanges I sense the confidence. However I've not talked to them since this match yet so we'll see.”

Persistent Issues and Player Response

The manager highlighted familiar failings from his squad in their European defeat, namely missed opportunities and leaking goals.

Meanwhile, player Jones was more direct in his assessment of the team's situation.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I’m saying that to all,” the midfielder stated.

“It's simply unacceptable. I don't have to wait to consider it. I'm beyond getting mad internally. I've reached the stage currently where I simply lack the words.”

He added, “It's difficult because I’m playing for the side I follow. I'm a supporter, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“In a long, long time, I've not seen a Reds side enduring a phase of this nature with results so bad.”

He concluded, “But we continue to wear the crest on our chest. And until it is taken away, we’re always going to battle.”

“We will attempt to get this team back to its rightful place, show everyone once more the values of this club and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“At this moment, things are bad and it must improve.”
