The Grisly Cartoon Film Conclusion That Haunts Fans

Among all the mature cartoon movies I’ve personally watched, nothing has stuck with me as much as the fear-filled ending of the graphically gory and overwhelingly transgressive film from 2022 Unicorn Wars.

In the year 2015, the Spain-based filmmaker developed a grim, somber , often savage world with some tiny , desolate glimmers of optimism.

Although The Unicorn Wars appears as it originated from a drive to push the medium further, the filmmaker clarified that it was more an attempt to express a widespread, multicultural message regarding “the shared root of every conflict.”

That idea is communicated via a squad of colorful pastel bears , obviously based on a famous line of cuddly characters.

Maturing in a society built around militarism as well as the war machine, a lot of these animals are consumed by exterminating the mythical beasts, thanks to a sacred text that claims them they previously were kings of the woods, until these creatures expelled them.

Others did not entirely accepted the brainwashing, , would rather try out drugs and fornicate in the woods.

Unlike their friendly counterparts, these vivid animals have visible genitals and clear sex drives.

For a certain notably brutal, cynical bear, the bear named Bluey, the conflict against unicorns transforms into a road to control — and specifically to dominance above his more tender, nicer brother Tubby.

This bear behaves aggressively and an apparent sociopath , and when fear dominates his unit and kills his fellow soldiers individually, he takes progressively power for himself, through ever more violent, harmful methods.

Meanwhile, the unicorns are suffering their own terror, as a growing, deadly beast in their habitat.

“Initially, it feels like a lighthearted film,” the director said. “However it turns into a more serious and sorrowful film. And ultimately, it becomes a terrifying movie.”

Unicorn Wars starts out feeling a bit like one of the most quirky features by a legendary animator, which find a naughty glee in allowing animated figures curse, fire weapons, or sex each other up.

Subsequently it becomes more akin to a bleaker movie by that same artist, featuring progressively visual gore , a palpable link to genuine horror of battle.

Ultimately, it’s a complete Grand Guignol carnage.

The horror that makes this a perfect Halloween viewing begins a lot earlier than indicated.

Unicorn Wars is ideal for the hardcore gorehounds, for enthusiasts of graphic films who wish to see a film they’ve never viewed until now, and can endure a narrative that offers absolutely no punches.

See it with the lights off without any distractions, and the finale will crawl under your skin and linger.
